What is Chorale?
The Monmouth Chorale, under the direction of Professor Tim Pahel, is a highly selective mixed ensemble which performs regularly on and off campus. The Chorale serves as the centerpiece for the annual “Christmas at Monmouth” concert and maintains an active and demanding rehearsal and performance schedule.
The group serves as an ambassador to alumni, prospective students, and the general public. The Chorale engages students from nearly every major offered at Monmouth College, giving students well-rounded musical experiences with high expectations for performance and competency.
Chorale Trip to Prague, Vienna & Salzburg, March 2020
Every four years, the Chorale goes on an international trip. In March 2020, we plan to travel to Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague with 40 members of the Chorale. We will perform for audiences in Austria and the Czech Republic but will also perform the concert here on the Monmouth campus after our return from the trip, where we will share with family, friends, and the Monmouth community our music and stories from the trip.
At the Heart Of Every Scot Lies a Passion
International music tours are truly wonderful, enriching, and life-changing experiences for our students. The Chorale traveled to Spain in 2012 and to Italy in 2016, and many students who went on those trips said that they were without a doubt the best and most meaningful experience they had during their college years. Sharing our music with people in another country, seeing how it moves and touches them, experiencing many aspects of a different culture, all while bonding with other students in the group, help create deep and meaningful memories that will last our students a lifetime.
To make it even sweeter, Monmouth College alumnus and trustee Michael McCulley ’70 will match any gift, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000!
